FACTS
 

· Genital Chlamydia is the most common STI in young people in England. 

· 1 in 10 young people has chlamydia.

· Both Men and Women can catch and transfer Chlamydia.

· Chlamydia is caught through unprotected sex. That is sex without a condom. It can be transferred during vaginal or anal sex. It can also be transferred by oral sex or if sharing sex toys.

· It cannot be transferred by kissing, sharing towels, sharing cups, or from toilet seats.

· People do not need to have had a lot of sexual partners to catch Chlamydia.

· People may not know they have it. Many people don’t have any symptoms.

· Untreated Chlamydia can lead to infertility.

· It is easily treated with antibiotics if detected early.
